Mission and Values

Our Mission

‘Let your light shine.’

Jesus said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will have the light of life.’  John 8:v12

At St Vincent’s Catholic Primary School we celebrate, the uniqueness of each child as created in the image of God. We aim to provide a high quality education and environment where each person can develop their individual potential. Christ’s example of love and care, shown by St Vincent de Paul, is encouraged through every aspect of school life and developed in partnership with parents, the parish and in the wider community. As a Catholic School, our faith permeates all aspects of school life. Our mission underpins our beliefs and values, which can be seen below.

Our Values

Our values are at the heart of St Vincent's. They support our school’s Catholic mission and underpin all we do. Values are taught through the curriculum, through our behaviours and in assemblies. Our values have become our common language. We talk about our values each day and the whole school community demonstrate the values through their behaviours in their interactions and during lessons.  Our values help the children to achieve well and also become well rounded individuals, so that when they move to their next phase of learning, they are ready to embrace the future.

Make a Difference

We let our light and other’s lights shine.

Be Kind

We are loving, kind and caring to everyone in our community.

Be Respectful

We open our hearts and minds and celebrate everyone as unique.

Be Passionate about Learning

We love to challenge ourselves to learn and don’t give up.

We have also linked scripture and prayers to each value:

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We let our light and other’s lights shine

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a candle and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthews 5:13-16

Dear Lord,

Let me be a person who makes a difference in the world. Help me to have a heart more ready to serve than be served. Let me be a person moved by compassion towards the weak and oppressed, a person who lets the light of others shine.

Amen

BE PASSIONATE ABOUT LEARNING

We love to challenge ourselves to learn and do not give up.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8

Dear Lord,

Help me to be passionate about learning. Send your Spirit upon me and fill me with your wisdom and blessings. Grant that I may devote myself to learning, and draw ever closer to you, the source of all knowledge.

Amen.

BE KIND

We are loving, kind and caring to everyone in our community.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35

Dear Lord,

Give me strength to show kindness in all that I do. Help me to open my arms to those less fortunate and extend my hand to those who may need it, so that they may see You in my kind thoughts, words and actions.

Amen

BE RESPECTFUL

We open our hearts and minds and celebrate everyone as unique.

“So, whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also for them.” Matthew 7:12

Dear Lord,

Teach me to respect You and others through my thoughts, words and actions. Help me to respect and love others, as I would want to be respected and loved.  Let me welcome and celebrate the uniqueness of all You created.

Amen.
