Welcome to Year 5

Welcome to Year 5!

In Year 5 we work hard to promote collaborative learning and create an exciting curriculum where every child can let their light shine.

In History we continue our journey through time and we focus on The Saxons and The Vikings.  Just take a look at the video below to find some information out about the Vikings for yourself. During our Geography topic we compare and contrast physical and human features of the UK and North/South America.

“Feel the force” is our exciting Science topic, with lots of experiments too! Everyone enjoys the “Parachute” experiment!

Throughout the year we take part in a range of sports: Lacrosse, Gaelic Football and Cricket are some of the highlights. Another highlight is our trip to Robinwood in the Summer Term.

Our Maths focus is fractions and a continued development of our Arithmetic skills. Writing imaginative and creative passages is a target in Year 5. We will introduce a range of writing genres such as; Suspense writing at Dracula’s Whitby and persuasive writing based on “Our use of Plastics.”
